Graphic Spaces’ wall decals are a very thin, removable, matte vinyl. This material is manufactured by Oracal. We use the Exhibition Calendared 631 which is used in museums and other non-permanent applications. This product is durable, kid-safe and waterproof.
Is it removable and will it damage my walls? Yes, the decals are removable, but not repositional, so please plan accordingly. They are meant for one-time application. The vinyl is backed with a low-tack adhesive which allows for easy residue-free removal with out any damage to the surface. However, since we can not guarantee every surface condition, it is possible some paint specks may come up during the removal process and minor paint touch-ups may be necessary.
How long will the product last? The vinyl will last for many years indoors if taken care of and kept out of extreme heat and direct sunlight. In addition to excellent indoor durability, the product has a minimum 3-year out door durability guarantee as well.
How do I apply them? Every order comes with a decal kit, complete with a squeegee, plastic removal blade and nicely illustrated instructions. It’s an easy DIY project!
Will the vinyl stick on all surfaces? Our products work best on smooth surfaces — both porous and non-pourous (dry wall, ceilings, mirrors, glass, finished wood, smooth metal, tile, plastic, smooth marble, sealed concrete). Please note that the vinyl may stick to a lightly textured surface, but because of this variable, we just can not guarantee the results. The material for sure will not stick to a rough surface, like brick or stucco, with out damaging the decal. The vinyl will also not adhere to fabrics. The decal will, how ever, stick to foam core, card board, paper and wall paper, but it is not removable from these materials.
Can I apply the decals to fresh paint? No, please don’t! If you’ve recently painted, please allow at least 3 weeks for the paint to chemically cure before you apply the vinyl, otherwise you will pull the paint up with the decal upon removal… not a good thing.
Will the product adhere to all paints? The vinyl sticks great to matte, satin or eggshell paint. The glossier the paint, the less details of the design will stick want to stick well. Therefore, the decal may not adhere properly to semi or high gloss painted surfaces.
Are the decals waterproof? Yes, the vinyl is waterproof. It is safe inside a humid bath room as well as in outdoor weather conditions (for up to 3 years outdoors).
How do I remove them? Every order contains a plastic removal blade for your convenience. This is not a necessary tool for removal, but just a courtesy we provide. You’re fingernail does the trick just as well. Carefully peel up an edge and slowly pull down and to an angel to remove the decal. Remember to go slow. If your decal is on a non-porous surface such as glass, use a hairdryer on low heat to warm the vinyl first. This will release the adhesive and make peeling much easier.
